Jay Wilde, Bradley Nook Farm

Jay Wilde has worked on his family farm all his life, starting out milking a dairy herd of around 100 cows before changing to organic beef in 1997. Jay never felt comfortable with raising animals for human consumption and became a vegetarian in the early 1980s. For many years, Jay was trying to find a solution that would allow him to end an occupation that went contrary to his personal conviction and at the same time would allow him to keep his farm in agricultural production. With the help of The Vegan Society, Jay donated his cattle to Hillside Animal Sanctuary in 2017 and is now in the process of turning his farm to the production of stockfree arable and horticultural produce.
